Fashion Design Crunch Time

I only have 5 days till the Fashion Show so it’s crunch time at Back Bayou Vintage! My gorgeous models came over today for their first fitting and they looked stunning in my haute couture recycled creations!

First Fitting!

I still have to put some finishing touches on both pieces, but here is a sneak peak of what will be rocking the runway come Friday.

First Fitting!

The royal blue evening gown, aka “Hustle and Bustle,” is modeled by the always lovely Faith. Inspired by the opulence of the Victorian Era, this high fashion ensemble features modernized bloomers and a prominent pannier-style bustle. The bustle structure is made of recycled plastic bags, making it much more comfortable than a traditional bustle aparatus. This neo-victorian look is high tea meets high fashion. Remember ladies, it’s all in the hips! Check out my last post: My First Fashion Show to see what this dress originally looked like!

DIY Victorian Gown

My other gorgeous model Caroline looks incredibly chic in this red carpet-ready dress, inspired by the couture mermaid gowns of the 1950’s, made famous by stars like Marylin Monroe, Jane Mansfield, and even Barbie!

DIY Mermaid GownI still need to add the sleeves and finish hand sewing all the dainty green trim on to this retro gown, but if you like what you see come on out to my Fashion Show this Friday and bid on this emerald gem in the silent auction!
